Reductive Printing

Monotype

Monoprint is a unique process by which a combination of painting and printmaking techniques can be used. A painting is created on a flat non-porous surface such as plexiglass and then transferred onto paper. Students will learn how to create different approaches to ink application by working in both additive and reductive processes, use of texture, brush strokes and vibrant color. Other techniques will include: Xerox transfer, chine colle, and several other printing techniques.
Students will
  • utilize the ghost image to create a series of prints based off of someone they have a person relationship. This is how it will relate to the idea of a doppelganger.
  • Create 7 different prints
  • Incorporate Chine Colle, xerox transfer, and found object printing in prints.
  • overprint plates / images 

Tools
Plexiglass, stiff paint brushes, portrait(xerox), found objects
